Although Kazimierz Nowak was Polish, he was born in 1897 in Stryi, in the Lviv region, in a land of brave and desperate people. They inspired him to believe that everything is possible in life — you just have to want it, imagine it, and put in all the effort to make the dream come true. Could Kazik doubt his abilities when he grew up surrounded by people who proved every day that the impossible does not exist? As a boy, he dreamed of traveling to distant lands. Thus, from Stryi, from his parents' home, Kazik made his first independent big journey. At the age of 14, with only a few coins in his pocket, he traveled to Rome! And from then on, there were no closed borders or unattainable dreams for Kazimierz Nowak!
Lukasz Wierzbicki - a Polish author of historical books for children, a traveler, and co-founder of the Kazimierz Nowak Foundation. As a child, he heard many interesting stories from his grandfather, one of which featured Kazimierz Nowak. One day, hearing from his grandfather, "It's a pity that this traveler didn't write a book. There is no book, and everyone has forgotten about him" - these words troubled Lukasz. He decided to go to the library in Poznań and search for reports and photos from Africa in old newspapers and magazines - "When I found letters from Kazimierz Nowak from Africa in the archive, I felt a bit like a discoverer of long-lost treasures. You could say that I rediscovered him for the world."
